Reardon, CFPB Director Discuss Collaboration

National President Tony Reardon last week joined Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Director Richard Cordray at a meeting organized by NTEU CFPB Chapter 335.

In a joint presentation, the two leaders discussed the importance of labor-management cooperation in making the agency a better place to work.

“I am very pleased to see the collaborative relationship that has developed between the agency and Chapter 335. This is not only of benefit to employees and the agency, but, ultimately it is also beneficial for the American consumer,” said Reardon, recognizing Chapter 335 President Gail Wisely and her leadership team.

Noting that NTEU represents employees across financial regulatory agencies, Reardon stated that “With every accomplishment, every victory, every fight, we gain knowledge and experience we can leverage to make improvement in your work lives.” He outlined NTEU’s efforts to date and our current work at the bargaining table.

Director Cordray noted that NTEU’s experience in other financial regulatory agencies is helpful to CFPB in exploring best practices. The CFPB leader also commended NTEU on its work to achieve dignity and respect for federal workers.

The NTEU president congratulated the employees on the fifth anniversary of the agency and their many important accomplishments on behalf of American consumers. “While you are out there fighting on behalf of consumers, I want you to know NTEU is fighting equally hard for you.”

The chapter president told employees that key issues for the chapter include the examiner commissioning program, travel, work schedules, work life balance, space issues, student loan repayment and pay equity.
