2017 Pay Raise is Official

Arrow Trending Up

The executive order, signed Tuesday, is the last step of the pay raise process. Originally expected to be just an average of 1.6 percent, NTEU announced earlier this month the additional increase as a match to what lawmakers granted to our troops (under the Defense Authorization Act) for 2017.

New pay rates will be in effect the first day of the first pay period beginning on or after Jan. 1, 2017. There is a 1 percent across-the-board increase and the remaining 1.1 percent goes to locality pay—which varies by location. The largest locality pay increases are in higher-cost urban areas that have higher overall wages.
