Maryland Congressman Stands Up for Federal Employees

Rep. Raskin's visit to DOE

With many federal employees feeling anxious about their futures under the new administration, a Maryland representative reaffirmed his support for federal workers and NTEU.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) visited the Department of Energy headquarters in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday at the invitation of Chapters 213 (DOE) and 228 (DOE Germantown). Prior to Rep. Raskin taking the stage, National President Tony Reardon provided legislative updates and reminded employees that NTEU will continue to stand up for their rights.

Many DOE employees felt particularly threatened when, late last year, the presidential transition team requested the names of employees or contractors who worked on climate change projects.

Raskin praised DOE employees for pushing back against the transition memo and called NTEU "a union prepared to defend the rights of public employees."
