Chapter 98 Talks Retirement with Sen. Corker’s Office

Chapter 98

With federal employees and retirees facing several threats to their retirement benefits, Chapter 98 (IRS Memphis Service Center) is taking on the fight head on.

Several Chapter 98 members recently volunteered their personal time to raise their concerns with Sen. Bob Corker’s (R-Tenn.) district office. During their meeting with Sen. Corker’s congressional staff, the chapter asked for Sen. Corker’s support on protecting federal pay and pensions, as well as adequately funding federal agencies in the fiscal 2018 budget.

The chapter didn’t come to the meeting empty-handed. They presented a stack of more than 660 letters from IRS employees opposing the retirement cuts. The chapter collected the letters at an informational campaign they held earlier in the week to educate members on the proposals and how they can get involved.

“NTEU has always fought for a well-funded and secure budget for federal employees who have spent their careers devoted to public service,” said Chapter 98 Steward Kenneth Allen. “Chapter 98 intends to continue this tradition.”

Chapter 98 is just one of many NTEU chapters from agencies nationwide and throughout the government who are standing up and speaking out against the harmful administration proposals.
