FEEA Now Accepting Scholarship Applications

NTEU members donate generously each year to the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund (FEEA), helping this unique charity continue its mission of federal employees helping federal employees.

FEEA helps federal employees in times of dire need—whether its recovering from a major storm or a spouse loses a job—by providing no-interest loans and grants. But FEEA is there for a lot more than major disasters.

For federal employees looking to advance their careers through education, or those who have children heading to college, FEEA provides merit-based scholarships, with the NTEU-FEEA scholarship as high as $5,000. The 2018 scholarship application is now available online, and I encourage NTEU members and their family members to apply.

As a member of the judging committee, I’m amazed and impressed each year by the talent level, commitment and hard work displayed by those federal employees and their family members who compete for the awards. I’m also proud that NTEU can help make college a little more affordable for such deserving students.
What’s particularly gratifying is reading thank-you notes from past scholarship winners. Here are what the FEEA scholarships have meant to last year’s winners, in their own words:

“I would like to thank the National Treasury Employees Union for believing in me and my capabilities. I hope to make you all proud to have invested in my future through my accomplishments.”

“This school has allowed me to gain my confidence as an individual in pursuing my career dreams of becoming a firefighter. I will strive to uphold the trust that you have placed in me in achieving the academic success that you deserve.”

“As I look to continue and grow a career dedicated to the successful delivery and financing of government health insurance to our low-income populations, the financial assistance you have provided makes the achievement of these goals attainable.”

Now it’s my turn to thank you, the NTEU members who continue to make these scholarships and other FEEA programs possible through your continued support. I encourage you to learn more about the various scholarships administered by FEEA, the nation’s only charity exclusively for federal employees, by visiting www.feea.org.
