Big Issues Loom as Shutdown Threat Nears

Congress and the administration are facing yet another funding deadline.

Congress has until Friday, Jan. 19, to pass a spending bill—either a short-term or longer-term bill— that must be enacted or the federal government will shut down. 

At the end of last year, Congress passed three continuing resolutions (CR) to avoid government shutdowns.
