Shutdown Deadline Friday

Congress and the administration must agree on a spending measure by Friday night to avoid a government shutdown.

House Republican leaders yesterday introduced a short-term continuing resolution (CR) to extend funding the federal government at current levels through Feb. 16. Along with a six-year reauthorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program, the bill would delay by two years implementation of the “Cadillac” tax, a 40-percent excise tax on high-cost health care plans, including those in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program.
