Feds Feed Families Campaign Kicks Off

Whether it’s the Combined Federal Campaign or NTEU chapters hosting their own charitable events, federal employees go above and beyond with their generosity. They will have another chance to help those less fortunate by participating in the Agriculture Department’s (USDA) Feds Feed Families campaign.

Though Oct. 18, federal employees at participating agencies around the country and governmentwide are encouraged to contribute non-perishable items. Last year, the nationwide effort reached a collection goal of more than 10.4 million pounds of non-perishable goods for local food banks. This year, the USDA is hoping to beat that record and collect donations of more than 17.9 pounds of food.

The annual food drive has collected nearly 80 million pounds of food since the campaign began in 2009. The campaign is conducted in the summer months when food banks traditionally see a decline in donations and a spike in need.
