NTEU Gets Support from NTEU...in Australia

NTEU Members at Philly Rally

NTEU members who rallied yesterday in Philadelphia for workplace rights got a nod of support from NTEU—the National Tertiary Education Union in Australia, that is.

“Solidarity with Treasury Workers over in the US taking action today!” the Australian teachers union tweeted to NTEU and Reps. Donald Norcross (D-NJ) and Brandon Boyle (D-PA), who spoke at the Thursday rally.

Hundreds of federal employees from the Philadelphia area, along with their allies in Congress, rallied during their lunch time for their workplace rights, fair pay and a secure retirement. National President Tony Reardon addressed the crowd of NTEU members from seven local chapters, underscoring the union’s commitment to fighting back against threats to federal employees.

“This is not a drill. The threats to federal employees are real. We’re already seeing agencies try to use these orders to take away basic workplace practices such as telework and alternative work schedules,” Reardon said.
