Senate Passes Continuing Resolution

The Senate approved a short-term funding bill on Wednesday that would avoid allow agencies without full-year funding to operate through Feb. 8 at existing funding levels. This measure is expected to be on the House floor for a vote later today. To avoid a partial government shutdown, the continuing resolution (CR) must pass the House and be signed by the president before funding for these federal agencies expires on Friday.

NTEU-represented agencies still without full year appropriations include the IRS and other Department of Treasury Offices and Bureaus, CBP and FLETC, CFTC, EPA, FCC, portions of FDA, FEC, NPS, PTO, SEC and USDA.

While the measure, passed by unanimous consent, would avert a partial government shutdown, it does not include the 1.9 percent pay increase the Senate had previously approved. This means the president’s pay freeze would remain in place and federal employees would not receive a pay raise in January. Read more and get Shutdown resources and information
