Shutdown Continues; No End in Sight

Whether you are locked out of your offices, or required to work, the government shutdown that is turning your lives upside down continues to drag on.

The Senate briefly gaveled into session today, but no votes were held as there is no agreed-upon funding bill to consider. Neither the full Senate nor House is currently scheduled to return to Washington for votes until after the New Year’s holiday next week.

Yesterday, National President Tony Reardon sent a letter to the heads of the Office of Management and Budget and the Office of Personnel Management asking them to mitigate the harmful effects of the shutdown on employees by speeding up delivery of back pay, providing documents to negotiate with creditors and preserving the leave they have rightfully earned.
