Hotel Per Diem Rates Slightly Increase

Beginning today, new per diem rates are in effect for federal employees who travel as part of their work.

Federal workers staying in the continental U.S. will see a $2 increase for their lodging allowance (from $94 in fiscal 2019 to $96 for fiscal 2020). The “meals and incidentals” allowance remains unchanged at $55. The standard rate covers the lower 48 states, except for 322 Non-Standard Areas (NSAs) with higher per diem rates.

Three new locations are now NSAs:

  • Boise, ID (Ada County)

  • Park County, MT, has been added to the Big Sky, MT, NSA area

  • Missoula and Flathead Counties in Montana were separated into their own NSAs

Seven NSA locations are moving into the standard rate category:

  • Dover, DE (Kent County)

  • South Bend, IN (St. Joseph County)

  • Benton Harbor/St. Joseph/Stevensville, MI (Berrien County)

  • Lake County, MT

  • Medina County, OH

  • Aiken County, SC

  • Sheboygan County, WI
