President Signs Continuing Resolution to Avert a Shutdown

The president signed a four-week continuing resolution (CR) into law, delaying the possibility of another shutdown until Dec. 20.

Congress had earlier approved the stop-gap spending bill ahead of tonight’s funding deadline.

NTEU now urges Congress and the administration to use these next few weeks to reach agreement on adequate government spending levels for the remainder of the fiscal year and avoid the anxiety of another shutdown deadline during the holidays.

The House has passed 10 of its appropriations bills, while the Senate has passed only four.

NTEU is also urging lawmakers to approve an average 3.1 percent pay increase, with locality pay, for the entire federal workforce and to protect employee collective bargaining rights.
