Must-Read Current COVID-19 Updates and Resources

As the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation continues to evolve, here’s an update on what NTEU is doing for federal employees and where you can find important information about your workplace.

Checklist Urges Closures of Federal Buildings and More Necessary Safety Steps

NTEU is strongly urging the government to take immediate steps to stop the spread of the coronavirus, including closing federal workplaces with more than 50 employees. This falls in line with the advice of the government’s own public health officials. Here is what else NTEU is urging to keep workers, their family members and communities safe:

Expand telework;

Authorize weather and safety leave for certain non-telework eligible employees;

Extend tax-filing season until Oct. 15, 2020;

Halt all international and domestic travel;

Notify employees on positive testing in their workplaces;

Provide disinfectant supplies; and

Make coronavirus testing available to federal employees, free of charge, if their doctor recommends it.

We understand the anger, anxiety and frustration many federal employees are feeling because of the lack of clear guidance. The government should lead by strictly following the advice of its own public health officials, and NTEU will continue working diligently to see that our checklist is implemented.
