NTEU Chapter 160 Donates Lunch to Local Firefighters

NTEU Chapter 160 (CBP Brownsville, Texas) wants to make sure frontline employees feel appreciated as they continue to help the American people during this pandemic.

In late August, chapter leaders and members surprised local firefighters, paramedics and rescue personnel with free lunch and handmade thank-you signs. The emergency personnel are members of Brownsville International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 970.

Organized by Chapter 160 Safety Officer Oscar Garcia and Steward Danny Benavides, the chapter felt this was an important gesture to show support for the emergency workers and for the work IAFF does, from one union to another. Many of these firefighters are also emergency medical services (EMS) workers who have personally assisted Chapter 160 members while on the job and are familiar faces within their communities.

The IAFF members expressed their gratitude to Chapter 160 and even offered to return the favor to CBP Officers.
