Chapter 173 Takes Members to the Drive-In

During these difficult times, Chapter 173 (CBP Detroit) knew members need a chance to destress and reconnect with each other.

In typical years, the chapter has hosted its popular ‘Stress Buster’ events at restaurants, but how could they safely gather members during the pandemic? With a little creativity and some out-of-the-box thinking, they arrived at the perfect solution: a drive-in movie theater.

The chapter rented an entire lot at the historic Ford-Wyoming Drive-In Theatre in Dearborn, Mich., where 45 cars pulled up for a thrilling double feature of the animated “Hotel Transylvania” and classic horror film “Halloween.” Instead of coming attractions, members were greeted with a recorded message from National President Tony Reardon, which sparked an applause.

The drive-in movie night was a hit. Not only was there a great turnout of members, but many of them brought along their families. After the movies ended, several members expressed their gratitude to the chapter for the fun night out.

“These events are important as I want people to know they are part of something,” said Chapter 173 President Robert Holland. “I want them to know that there is someone who cares, not that they just show up to work, but actually cares that they know they are respected.”
