Chapter 193 Steps Up for the Community

Chapter 193 (IRS Puerto Rico) President Lorena Montan took notice of how the pandemic has caused an unprecedented need for food and other supplies and decided to get the chapter involved in helping the community.

The chapter worked to collect donations and plan a socially-distant event to distribute them to federal employees in the community.

Chapter 193 set up outside the San Patricio Office Center Building, a federal building in Guaynabo, PR, where volunteers wore facemasks and face shields and sanitized the items with disinfectant wipes. The donation kits were set up on tables in a parking area where federal employees could drive up to receive the baskets filled with food, hand sanitizer, face masks and office supplies.

Montan received numerous messages thanking her and the chapter for their generosity.

“In the words of late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, fight for the things you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you,” said Montan.
