Chapter 193 Donates PPE to Local Elementary School

Chapter 193 (IRS Puerto Rico) members recently went the extra mile to help keep their community safe.

Last month, a member approached Chapter President Lorena Montan about helping a local elementary school that was preparing to reopen, but did not have adequate supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE) for staff and students. Montan immediately developed a plan to help.

Within three days, the chapter purchased 35 boxes of disposable facemasks and more than 20 members chipped in by donating PPE of their own. The chapter also received a donation of PPE from Chapter 188 (CBP Puerto Rico), led by Chapter President Hiram Gonzalez.

All together, the chapter collected around 2,000 surgical and reusable facemasks, six gallons of alcohol, boxes of disinfectant wipes and other PPE from member donations.

Staff from the elementary school expressed gratitude for the chapter’s generosity.

“As public servants, we have been blessed with a great job and we will be giving back as much as we can,” said Montan.
