Statement by NTEU National President Tony Reardon

The new White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment is a welcome improvement to how the federal government views frontline workers and their representatives.

NTEU supports a proactive approach to worker organizing and the focus of the Task Force on supporting collective bargaining in a way that benefits both workers and their employers. In the federal sector, especially, strong contracts that are bargained in good faith are essential to federal agencies accomplishing their important missions, not the least of which includes promoting public health, economic growth and security. We agree that the federal government can and should lead by example and we look forward to seeing the results of the work of this task force and to the administration's appointment of neutral, experienced professionals to the various boards and panels that uphold the merit system principles and ensure all federal sector bargaining is fair and productive.
