When Chapter 85 (IRS Las Vegas) President Sharon Bennett read about Chapter 173’s (CBP Detroit) weekly trivia game challenging members to get to know their contract, she immediately felt inspired.
She began planning her own chapter quiz and gathering questions on different issues and articles. Every Friday, Bennett emails a question about the contract to members, who then have a week to send back an answer—including the article, section and page number. Each member who answers correctly is entered into a monthly prize drawing. Prizes include desk fans, office supplies, Bluetooth speakers, scented candles, bath gift sets, and more.
“Not only is this game a bit of fun for a Friday morning, but it’s also a way we can engage with our members,” said Bennett. “The game helps members learn how to research their contract, which is empowering. And, if we notice that a particular employee right is becoming an issue locally, we can help spotlight that for our membership with the trivia questions.”
