OPM Proposes Expanding Locality Pay to Thousands of Employees

The Office of Personnel Management published a proposed regulation that would increase locality pay for thousands of federal employees beginning in January.

The four new locality pay areas proposed are Fresno-Madera-Hanford, CA; Reno-Fernley, NV; Rochester-Batavia-Seneca Falls, NY; and Spokane-Spokane Valley-Coeur d'Alene, WA-ID. Locality pay rates for these four areas would be set by the president after they have been established by regulation as new locality pay areas.

The President’s Pay Agent in December approved recommendations from the Federal Salary Council to establish the new locality pay areas. National President Tony Reardon, a member of the Council, strongly supported the positive changes to locality pay.
