Congratulations, FEEA-NTEU Scholarship Award Winners!

They are some of the best and brightest students this country has to offer and now they are also scholarship winners. Meet the five recipients of this year’s college scholarships sponsored by NTEU and administered by the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund (FEEA). The winners will each receive $5,000 through the NTEU-FEEA Scholarship program in addition to awards FEEA hands out.

Michael Dirksen, whose mother is a Chapter 3 (IRS Nebraska) member, attends the University of Chicago where he is studying to become an economist with an investment bank.

Morgan Glaze, whose mother is a member of Chapter 55 (IRS South Carolina), is studying nursing at Clemson University. Morgan is this year’s recipient of the NTEU-FEEA Vernon Hunter Memorial Scholarship in honor of longtime IRS employee Vernon Hunter, who was killed in a 2010 suicide plane attack on an IRS office building in Austin, Texas.

Jessica Shields will be a graduate student in dentistry this fall at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her mother is a member of Chapter 39 (IRS Kentucky/Tennessee).

Danielle Godson is studying neuroscience at the Georgia Institute of Technology and plans to pursue a doctorate in physical therapy with a neurological specialty. Her mother is a member of Chapter 26 (IRS Georgia).

Suttida Patamawenu is the child of a National Institutes of Health microbiologist and plans to study molecular biology. She is interested in following in her parent’s footsteps and working with the government, specifically the National Cancer Institute to research gene therapy.

The FEEA-NTEU Scholarship was created in 2006, when NTEU donated more than $700,000 in unused administrative funds from the settlement of a special salary rates legal case against the government
