House Committee Advances Bills Aimed at Your Union Rights

House Republicans passed several anti-union bills in a House committee last week, which now move to the full House for consideration.

These bills are a direct attack on crucial federal employee rights and their unions:

  • The Preserving Presidential Management Authority Act (H.R. 2249) would allow a president to unilaterally declare provisions of a fairly negotiated and ratified collective bargaining agreement void.

  • The Protecting Taxpayers’ Wallets Act (H.R. 1210) would charge federal unions for their use of agency resources, including office space, equipment and time spent representing employees.

  • The Paycheck Protection Act (H.R. 2174) would prohibit the ability of federal employees who choose to join a union to have their dues deducted from their paycheck just like other allotments such as contributions to charities under the Combined Federal Campaign.

Also passed was the Reorganizing Government Act of 2025 (H.R. 1295) which would expand the President’s power by removing established guardrails and limitations, giving Congress only 90 days to vote on any of the administration’s agency reorganization plans and allowing them to be approved by just a majority vote.

Ahead of last week’s House committee vote, NTEU sent a letter urging lawmakers to vote no on each of the bills.

We all need to work together with our allies to prevent these anti-worker and anti-union bills from moving through Congress.
