The National Treasury Employees Union offers its best wishes to Commissioner Robert C. Bonner of the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) upon the announcement of his impending retirement. As a key component of the Department of Homeland Security, CBP plays a leading role in helping secure our nation in a dangerous world. It is important that CBP have a leader who recognizes both the critical nature of its mission and the value that employees bring to the accomplishment of that mission. The next CBP leader faces immense challenges to meet the critical missions of the department. NTEU and our professional and dedicated members stand ready to work with a new commissioner to meet those challenges.
