NTEU is fully aware of the magnitude and importance of the mission of the Department of Homeland Security. We look forward to working with Bernard Kerik, President Bush’s nominee as DHS Secretary, on accomplishing that mission in ways that recognize, utilize and respect the expertise, skill and dedication to duty of DHS employees. We also look forward to the prospect of an open and full dialogue with the new Secretary on the full range of issues affecting DHS employees. The reality is that the impact of these issues goes far beyond the lives of agency employees; that impact touches every American in real and vital ways. We look forward to working with Secretary-nominee Kerik to ensure the success of the Department of Homeland Security.
