Statement of NTEU President Kelley on the Recess Appointment of Carol Waller Pope to the FLRA

Press Release April 4, 2007

Given the importance of federal sector labor relations to the effective delivery of government programs and services to the public, I welcome the announcement by the president that he plans to make a recess appointment to the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) of Carol Waller Pope. NTEU had previously called for her nomination to the FLRA.

Ms. Pope is extremely qualified and this appointment allows her to quickly bring her wealth of knowledge and experience to FLRA business. The appointment also fills the Democratic seat on the three-member FLRA, which is required to have members from both political parties.
