Threats

All across the political horizon, there are promises to shrink the federal workforce, weaken government, slash agency resources, gut federal employee unions and politicize the civil service.

It is not just one big looming threat from one source, but a series of attacks on nearly every single corner of the federal workplace. The threat level is high and far exceeds the usual perennial proposals to cut employee pay and benefits. For federal employees, more than ever, everything is on the line in the 2024 election cycle.

What Federal Employees Could Lose:

  • Your job

  • Your fair, negotiated contract

  • Promotion opportunities

  • Control Over Your Schedule

  • Some or All Telework Days

  • A Union Lawyer at Your Side

  • Your Voice in the Workplace

  • Agency Resources Necessary for Your Job

  • Due Process Rights

A Threat to Your Union is a Threat to You, Too

What NTEU Could Lose:

  • Ability to Represent Federal Employees

  • Members Removed from Bargaining Units

  • Access to Agency Workspace and Email System

  • The Balance of Power between Union and Management

  • Resources that Pay for Union Representation Work

NTEU is in the process of anchoring down everything we can to withstand any and all attacks on federal employees and their unions.

The only guaranteed protection, however, is to vote for candidates who support federal employees, support federal agencies and support federal employee unions.

The anti-government, anti-union forces pursuing these extreme ideas are perpetuating some harmful myths about federal employees and their work. Equip yourself to fight back with the truth.
